Mme Saoussen B. - Clinical Project Manager
“My recruitment process was conducted rapidly, with few formalities and a warm and direct contact with the company’s general management. Aixial is fast-growing young company with its eye on the future. We already have more than 80 consultants on the team, a good indicator of the success of the company.”
Could you describe your career and how it developed?
My job consists in managing the clinical research protocols and the multidisciplinary teams required to ensure the quality of the results, while respecting deadlines and the initial budget. Right now I am on assignment in an international laboratory, working on the preparation phase and project management. The job includes everything from the presentation of the protocol and the selection of the medical practitioners’ teams, to the management of the CRO technical teams and the drafting of the statistical study report. I have a higher education background in science, and worked for five years in a CRO as an onsite monitoring clinical research assistant before joining Aixial. I now have more responsibilities in the actual conducting of studies, both in the preparatory phases and in its daily management aspects (Retroplanning, visits for set ups, human resources planning, the accompanying of Clinical Research Assistants on site, budget control…).
Why did you decide to join Aixial?
I joined Aixial in 2008. The idea of assignments by project, with clear and measured objectives, corresponded to my professional needs.
For me, Aixial is a door that opens on to consulting and management, thanks to the quality and variety of the missions to which I am assigned.

Aixial’s management mode: excellent coaching of its teams, which stems from a real desire to build loyalty.
What do you see as the major trends in clinical research?
Clinical research is relatively impervious to the economic climate as it is takes place over the long-term. On the other hand, we have noted a steady rise in regulatory constraints and a certain constancy in the time it takes to develop a drug (10 to 20 years, depending on the type of medication and including basic research as well as all phases of the clinical research).
Given the growing economic pressure (non-reimbursed medication, development of generic drugs, patent duration, very strict regulations), the pharmaceutical industry is accelerating the number of new molecules put on the market and, at the same time, cutting organization-related costs. Recruitment in the sector is down and the focus turning toward the outsourcing of certain activities in order to minimize industrial risks and be able to respond more rapidly.
In your view, what are and will be the company’s keys to success?
Aixial’s success is due to the quality of the ties it has with its teams, its understanding of its customers’ needs and a belief that everything is possible.
